The 2007 Microsoft Office system introduces a new file format that is based on XML called Open XML Formats. Microsoft Office Word 2007, Microsoft Office Excel 2007, and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 all use these formats as the default file format. Open XML formats are useful for developers as they are an open standard and based on well-known technologies (ZIP and XML). Microsoft provides a library for accessing these files as part of the WinFX technologies in the System.IO.Packaging namespace. This namespace is included in the Windows base Assembly.
To make it simpler to interact with the System.IO.Packaging namespace, Microsoft has created the Open XML SDK 2.0. The snippets in this download use the Open XML SDK 2.0 to accomplish many tasks involving Microsoft Excel 2007, Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, and Microsoft Word 2007 documents. You can use the enclosed code snippets with the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Code Snippet Manager. Each snippet provides unique functionality that you can reuse within an application. This download provides snippets written in Microsoft Visual Basic.NET and Microsoft C# development languages. The snippets in this download use the Open XML SDK 2.0 to accomplish many tasks involving Microsoft Excel 2007, Microsoft PowerPoint 2007, and Microsoft Word 2007 documents. Download and install these snippets to your Visual Studio code snippet folder and use them with the Visual Studio Code Snippets Manager.
